As a mezzo soprano recognized for her “stylistic mastery and ripe, sensual sound” (Opera Magazine, UK), Peabody has performed principal roles for the Metropolitan Opera, LA Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, Carnegie Hall, Seattle Symphony, LA Philharmonic, New World Symphony and San Francisco Symphony and has been conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, Louis Langrée, James Conlon, John Adams and Robert Spano.

A champion of new music, she has premiered many works for contemporary composers including Nico Muhly, whose US premiere of Marnie she performed at the Metropolitan Opera in 2018 and the international HD Broadcast. In 2020 she premiered Du Yun and Raven Chacon’s experimental opera Sweetland for Yuval Sharon at The Industry.
